On Your Side After An Injury

Worker suffers serious injuries in industrial accident

One of the most important industries is the manufacturing of parts and equipment for use in a wide variety of commercial applications. However, the nature of the job often entails the use of large machinery and hazardous conditions that could lead to a serious industrial accident. Missouri is home to several manufacturing plants, in which it is likely that workers have suffered significant injuries.

Recently, emergency responders in another state were called to the scene of a workplace accident. According to the report, a 58-year-old man was engaged in working on a large lathe machine. Known as a computer numerical control (CNC) machine, this particular machine was a vertical turning center lathe. Apparently, the victim somehow fell into the machine while it was running.

Emergency personnel spent more than 30 minutes in their efforts to free the victim from the machinery. Though he was reportedly conscious during the rescue, he did suffer significant injuries to his lower body. Once he was removed from the machine, he was taken by medical helicopter to the nearest trauma center capable of providing the appropriate emergency care.

It is unclear how the worker fell into the machinery. Both local officials and investigators from the federal office of Occupational Safety and Health Administration are working to determine how this tragic industrial accident occurred, and though no foul play is suspected, police have thoroughly documented the worksite. Provided the man survives his extensive injuries, he will likely experience a long and difficult recovery. In these situations, monetary benefits from the workers’ compensation insurance program play a vital rule in ensuring there are financial resources for ill and injured workers. Missouri employees who suffer a work-related injury or illness may choose to enlist the assistance of an experienced attorney in order to facilitate the timely and accurate filing of a qualifying claim for maximum benefits.
