On Your Side After An Injury

Man suffers injuries after construction site accident

Many of those who choose to work in the construction field have the satisfaction of seeing their labor come to fruition in the form of a completed building. However, there is also the risk of suffering serious injuries in the event of a construction site accident. Sadly, many Missouri workers have been a victim of a workplace accident through no fault of their own.

Recently, emergency responders were called to the site of a new building in another state intended to house Facebook employees. According to the reports, a worker was making his way across steel decking several floors up. For unknown reasons, the surface became unstable, and the worker lost his footing.

The man then plunged close to 15 feet toward the structure’s third floor. Fortunately, his safety harness and line stopped his fall just short of impact. Rescue workers utilized a hook and ladder extension to safely lower the worker without further injury. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of significant pain, bruising and lacerations.

According to officials, this is the second emergency call in the past three months for this particular project. In April, two other workers also were injured in falls, though their safety equipment prevented them from suffering critical injuries. It is unknown how serious this worker’s injuries are, but he may require some time to heal before returning to work. In situations where an employee has suffered injuries in a construction site accident, the workers’ compensation benefit program is intended to provide financial support. When a Missouri employee needs to file a claim, he or she may enlist the assistance of an experienced attorney to process the claim in an efficient and timely manner.
