For people in and around Kansas City it can be fun to watch new construction projects begin to develop. From the digging up of foundations to the erecting of walls, new buildings create vitality in areas of the city that can sometimes be seen as out of date.
While new construction is usually a sign of good economic health for a community, those construction sites can be anything but healthy for the workers who must operate in them each day. Accidents on the job are unfortunately common and sometimes create fatal situations for those involved.
An EMS first responder team was called to a residential construction site where a man had fallen. Responders estimate that the man was younger than 40-years-old and that he had sustained visible head injuries in the accident. Despite the presence of emergency responders the man died from the injuries he sustained in the fall.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration will look into the facts of this man’s death. Tasked with enforcing workplace safety laws and improving working conditions for American employees, OSHA can mandate fines against employers that negligently or intentionally create dangerous workplace conditions for their employees.
As OSHA performs its investigation and authorities look into how this tragic accident occurred, the family of this victim will have to find a way to deal with his loss. Depending upon their situation they may find themselves strapped for cash as a result of losing his salary and otherwise struggling to make ends meet. As more facts are revealed regarding how this accident happened, this family may consider pursuing its legal rights against a potentially responsible construction company to recoup the losses they experienced when this accident victim died.
